In LFA Gr ass Root Under -12 Tournament, First Touch Sports Academy dominates Individual Awards

The Liberia Football Association Grass Root Under 12 Tournament has officially ended but the historic dominance of a well-established and organized sports Academy, First Touch Sports Academy did not go unnoticed by the organizers of the competition.

The competition, which is part of programs of the football house to ensure that the foundation of the talented young people in the country, is solidly built, ended on July 25, 2023 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium(ATS) with Scholars Academy crowned as champions.

However, the Ocean Blue Boys of First Touch Sports Academy collected three strategic awards after the end of the competition with one player winning two awards.

First Touch Sports Academy, who came close to winning the tournament, got eliminated at the semi -finals in a narrow one zero defeat after they dominated the match from start to finish.

However, as highly expected, the Ocean Blue Boys Star player Joseph Harris won the Most Valuable Player Award (MVP)

Harris, who was exceptional during the beginning to the end of the tournament, out classed his colleagues with his fascinating display and also won the highest goal scorer award respectively.

First Touch Sports Academy Reliable Striker, strong, fast, very skillful, disciplined and clinical in finishing, also scored fourteen goals from eighteen matches played in the entire tournament to win for himself a well-deserved Highest Goals scorer award.

Very unlucky First  Touch Sports Academy, who was tipped as the competition favorite  by the fans and others   to win it,  was good in all departments as its young , brave and confident goalkeeper Chernor Bah also walked away with the Best Goalkeeper award of the tournament.


The future first touch goalkeeper with good feet work played eighteen games and collected ten clean sheets to win for himself such award.

According to the Academy's Coach, Alfred Collins, his players deserved the awards due to their consistent performance during the entire tournament.

He said despite they did not achieve their goal of the tournament which was to win it, they are hopeful of coming back even stronger to show supremacy over their Counterparts.

"We are now training to keep fitness and to ensure we come back much more fit and prepare to do our best," he told our reporter.

Collins, who used the occasion to appreciate parents of his players for their support to their kids and the Academy by extension, also hailed his boss and vision bearer of First Touch Sports Academy, Nusee Cooper for providing the opportunity to the talented kids to explore.

"Our kids are talented and I am excited with their improvement level over the period but we still need to do more for them in the next league season and years to come," he told our reporter.

At the same time, he commended his entire technical staff and the players for a job well done and urged them not to give up but to remain focus and to keep the team spirit alive . 

Meanwhile, he stressed that the Academy is open to all, especially to parents who are interested in bringing their children home away from home.

"At First Touch Sports Academy, we do not only play football but we teach our players the fundamental, teach them good moral values, we also build their capacity and self-esteem among others, " he further informed the public.
