Liberia’s President advocates for Development at MCC’s 20th Anniversary

President Joseph Nyuma Boakai Sr has delivered a compelling address at the 20th-anniversary celebration of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) held at the George W. Bush Center in Dallas, Texas. Joined by leaders from various nations and esteemed dignitaries, the event showcased Liberia’s commitment to sustainable development and inclusive growth.

 

During his address on May 6, 2024, President Boakai commended the MCC for its transformative impact on developing nations, including Liberia over the past two decades.

 

Highlighting the MCC Compact’s influence on crucial sectors such as electricity, healthcare, education, and infrastructure, he emphasized its role in providing previously inaccessible basic services to Liberians.

 

President Boakai underscored the program's empowerment of marginalized communities, particularly women and girls, through initiatives promoting education, healthcare, and economic opportunities.

 

Despite acknowledging implementation challenges, he assured diligent efforts to enhance Liberia’s readiness and effectiveness in utilizing MCC initiatives.

 

Emphasizing the importance of local ownership and sustainable development, President Boakai urged stakeholders to view Liberia as a partner in long-term ventures aimed at mutual benefit.
