Please Stop This Is Uncalled-for Act !!
In spite of the nonstop educational programs on sanitation and the need to keep our homes, environment and cities clean, we cannot still understand why some people continue to drop waste in the streets and into drains.
We had and continue to witness that some people, without remorse drop waste in the streets, while others dump the waste into drains that are meant to carry waste water.
This untidy habit is still prevalent in Monrovia and its environs. The relevant government agencies, specifically the Monrovia City Corporation(MCC) had and continues to express serious concern over what we consider as an uncalled-for act , which authorities say, contribute greatly to the untidy nature of some parts of Monrovia and its environs.
As a result of this unwarranted act, it is often common during the raining season, which we are currently experiencing, to find drains chocked to the brim with solid waste materials, mainly plastic bags and feces. The disgusting odder from these drains is huge, not to mention about providing a breeding ground for mosquitoes, which cause malaria and other water borne diseases.
In consideration of the danger the dumping of solid waste in the streets and into drains continues to pose to our environment, we again urge all those who are involved in this needless habit to stop.
We beg the doers to stop this unwarranted act, as it is doing more harm to our country than good.
We all need to buttress the government through the MCC efforts in keeping our homes, communities and cities clean for the good of our beloved country, Liberia.
