There is an urgent need for the Government of Liberia(GoL), through the Ministry of Public Works, to put into place proper mechanisms aimed at dealing with the continuous flooding in the country, especially in Monrovia and its environs.
We are still concerned about the issue of overcrowdings at the various prisons in the country, particularly the Monrovia Central Prison, and the need to urgently address this seemingly old age problem by the Government of Liberia(GoL) through the relevant government functionaries, mainly the Ministry of Justice(MoJ) cannot be overstated.
When she spoke in an exclusive interview in Monrovia recently, an advocate on the rights of People With Albinism (PWA) in Liberia, called on the Government and the Liberian Society to include PWA in all sectors of society as they have always been neglected.
There is a need to continue highlighting the situations of women and girls who suffer violence and abuses in the county so as to influence policy and decision makers to find ways of reducing and/or alleviating these vices in our society.
From our vantage point, we want to again encourage our government and its partners as well as all anti-rape crusaders, including the media to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that rape, which is reported to be one of the most serious crimes being committed in the country by unprincipled people, is drastically reduced, if not jettisoned.
We have again observed conscientiously that the Government of Liberia(GoL) Regulation against the mismanagement of public properties, particularly vehicles is still being ignored by some public officials and personnel, despite stern warning against the unwarranted act.
