‘We must never renege our roles and responsibilities’ …Healthcare Professionals admonished

As they walked out of the walls of the Rural Liberia Christian School of Health Assistant in Margibi County, the dux of the graduating class reminded her colleagues in the discharge of their sacred as healthcare professionals.

In her valedictory speech at the graduation and convocation exercises of the Rural Liberia Christian School of Health Assistant recently, Ruth G. Membah, reminded her colleagues and healthcare providers to never renege on their duty of saving lives and to serve humanities.

Madam Membah indicated that in spite of whatever challenge(s) along the way, healthcare practitioners must keep focused and endeavor to execute their assigned roles and responsibilities in the stride to ensuring a better healthcare delivery system for the country.

Fellow graduates, as we end this curriculum of study, I want to urge all of us to reflect on the singular purpose for choosing this field of being health workers.

We came to this field not for maximum profit making but to serve humanity; we came to this field with the mind of saving lives,” said Madam Membeh.

As healthcare professionals, we play an integral role in society by providing healthcare services such as dispensing of medicine, and care services to people with injuries, illnesses, and other impairments. Though in our advancement we might all have different areas of specialties, the importance of our roles and responsibilities in the ever-changing society cannot be overemphasized and we should never renege on this. Fellow graduates, on this gracious occasion, I admonish us all to leave this hall with the primary focus of going out there to save lives,” she pointed out.

On the heel of difficulties encountered during the course of study, the newly graduate healthcare professional admonished members of the graduated class to now look at the prospect ahead in the profession that they have chosen.

Fellow students and our many visiting friends, this milestone achievement we are celebrating here did not come on a silver platter; each and every one of us, one way or the other, had our own rocky experiences along the way – sometimes there was no money to come to school and we had to trek long journeys; at times there was no launch and we had to learn on empty stomach. Some of us even had some family issues at home, but we had to bury all of these challenges and so it is now time to look at the positives ahead to move on as we are all here in laugher today.”

To our parents, guardians, families, friends and loved ones who have supported us in this endeavor, on behalf of the graduating class, I want to thank you for your immense sacrifices. And to the administration of this noble institution, on behalf of my colleagues, I express our warmest gratitude for the knowledge you impacted in us,” she added.
