Police arrest 3 Men in connection to woman death

Police in Ganta, Nimba County, have apprehended three men in connection with the alleged murder of a 25-year-old woman, Yourg Cooper.

The deceased, a mother of six, had left Bain Nengbehn Town in District number one in Nimba County with her children and tragically ended up dead.

According to Amos Sahn, a caregiver for the deceased, Yourg Cooper received a phone call from one of the suspects, who was identified as her boyfriend, while she was burning coal near her farm.

Responding to the call, she left her two children at the farm near the coal-burning site and headed towards the main road, where she was later found dead, approximately thirty minutes away from the farm.

The witness reported that Yourg Cooper's neck was fatally injured, resulting in immediate death. The suspects, identified as Lawrence Gono (34), Sampson Dolo (38), and Levin Yasiah (45) – the deceased's boyfriend, are currently undergoing police investigation in Sanniquellie City.

This tragic incident marks the fourth reported case of women being killed by their boyfriends in Nimba County this year alone. Notably, a few months ago, a woman in her 40s lost her life at the F2 Guest House in the Pearson community in Ganta, allegedly at the hands of her boyfriend. Despite this earlier incident, no arrests have been made by the police in Ganta.

The series of such distressing events raises worries about the safety and security of women in Nimba County, prompting a need for heightened awareness and preventive measures to curb domestic violence.

With reports of frequent mysterious deaths, there is need for the local community and authorities collaborate to address the root causes and provide support to women and children who are vulnerable to such tragedies.
