No Arrest Seven Months After a Woman was murdered in Guest House in Ganta

Since the murder of a woman believed to be a sex worker in a guest house in Ganta, Nimba County, the local police are yet to make any arrest.
The victim, in her early 40s, was discovered lifeless in room 4 of the F-2 Guest House in Pearson Community, her neck bound with a rope and multiple stab wounds inflicted near her heart using a screwdriver.

David Kehzie, the Guest House Manager, informed reporters that the man who booked the room, identified as Prince Doe, had provided his information upon check-in, including his name and address.

However, he claimed not to have a phone number. Kehzie emphasized the thorough information gathering process at the guest house and expressed shock as this was the first incident of its kind since the establishment opened in 2008.

Prince Doe spent the first night at the guest house but disappeared on the day after checking in.

The caretaker alerted management, prompting an investigation that led to the gruesome discovery of the unidentified woman's body on Friday evening. Ganta City Mayor Amos N. G. Suah condemned the act, expressing concern about the tragedy involving someone's daughter.

The deceased, believed to be from outside Ganta, and Prince Doe were reportedly old lovers attempting to rekindle their relationship.

Police sources revealed that Prince Doe used a rope and other weapons in the crime, but as of now, no arrests have been made. Last year, a similar incident occurred in Ganta, where an ArcelorMittal – Liberia employee was found dead at Jackie Guest House after engaging with a sex worker, yet no arrests have been made in that case either.

The police in Ganta have launched investigations into both incidents, working on information received. Addressing the situation, the Manager of Gompa Funeral, Mr. David Mulbah, noted that there has been no response for payment since early May 2023, marking about seven months since the woman's death at the guest house.

The lack of progress in making arrests and the delayed response towards funeral expenses raise concerns about the effectiveness of the ongoing investigations.

In the midst of these disturbing incidents, the community is left grappling with the lack of closure and justice for the victims.

The police's commitment to resolving these cases becomes crucial in restoring a sense of security and accountability in the locality.

As hope of a possible investigation hangs in the air, the community awaits answers and action against those responsible for these tragic events.
