MPC embarks On Life Touching Opportunity in Grand Bassa …. launches L$5M Loan for Market Women

As part of its many initiatives aimed at touching lives through empowerment, the Movement for Progressive Change (MPC) has launched a L$5M loan program in Buchanan, Grand Bassa County with the initial start of L$3M.

The loan project was launched at the weekend in the port city with several marketers; predominantly women, expected to benefit from the initiative.

Speaking at the launch of the loan project, Simeon Monseegar Freeman, political leader of the MPC, explained that the loan will be channeled through 89 susu groups for onward distribution to the marketers for the sole purpose of accountability.

He said the “redemption” project for Buchanan, is planned and arranged in a manner and form that captures different business groups.

“We want to change the system where you don't have to be a President or Representative before you enjoy. My presidency will change the narrative of empowerment and we are going to be building factories. We need to go the soil to invest in rice production. We want to run a government wherein everything will happen all over. Our people are suffering because they (government) don't know what to do; that's why we are like this,” he added.

As was done in Monterrado a fortnight ago, Mr. Freeman announced a medical outreach mission for Buchanan in the coming week to help address the pressing medical needs of the people of Grand Bassa.

In remarks, a representative of the susu group in person of Mother Regina Baah lauded the MPC, especially its standard bearer for the life touching program.

“You are our son and you have already got our blessings because you have been a blessing for us. We are trying to change the community through our businesses and so we want to thank you for your support to us.  We always trust in God for help and so we always pray for you. We wish you the best in your endeavor as you try to lift us from poverty,” Mother Baah, among other things, told the gathering.

Prior to the indoor program held at the famous Unification Pavilion, scores of marketers and well-wishers of the MPC gathered at the Monrovia Junction and marched their way through the principle streets of Buchanan with thanks in appreciation to the party.
