LDEA nabs Mother and Daughter Duo With Kush Haul in Vahun District, Lofa County

In a significant drug bust, the Liberia Drugs Enforcement Agency (LDEA) Lofa County Detachment apprehended a 50-year-old woman, Sunah Folemah, and her daughter, Senie Fayia, age 25 with a staggering 200 wraps of Kush Drugs in Folima Town, Lower Guma, Vahun District, Lofa County.

The operation, led by the  LDEA Commander in Lofa, Special Agent Kpehe Lomax, unfolded on March 7, 2024. The seized Kush Drugs, with an estimated street value of 55,000 Liberian Dollars, marked a major blow against illicit substance trafficking in the region.

Kush, a potent strain of cannabis, has gained notoriety for its high THC content, leading to its classification as a controlled substance in many jurisdictions.

Originating from the Hindu Kush mountain region, this strain has been a focus of concern due to its potential health and social implications.

Upon interrogation, both suspects confessed to their involvement in the crime and earnestly pleaded for mercy during interviews with our reporter on the ground.

Subsequently, Sunah Folemah and Senie Fayia were officially charged and swiftly sent to the 10th Judicial Circuit Court in Voinjama City to face legal proceedings.

Negative impacts associated with Kush use include adverse effects on mental health, cognitive function, and increased risk of addiction.

The illicit trade of Kush Drugs contributes to criminal activities, posing a threat to community well-being.

 The recent arrest in Vahun District reflects ongoing efforts by law enforcement to combat the detrimental effects of drug trafficking in Liberia.
