‘I Saw An Image That Stabbed Me’ Alice Johnson testifies in Charloe Musu’s Murder Trial

One of the defendants named Alice Johnson in the murder trial of Charloe Musu involving former Chief Justice Gloria Musu Scott testified that she only had the chance to see the image of the intruder.

On Tuesday, November 21, 2023, while on the witness stand, Alice narrated that in the night of the incident, she went inside to sleep. She said while sleeping she then heard Aunty Gertrude Newton who is also a defendant along with the deceased- Charloe Musu screaming.

Just with in that time, she tried waking up from the bed she then encountered an image she got stabbed.

“I woke up and trying to get up from the bed, I saw an image and I got stabbed. I started yelling and I hide behind the blue barrel in our room. In that time, I heard a male voice demanding for keys. He said give the fucking keys. When I stopped hearing them talking, I left from behind the barrel and ran straight to Aunty Youdeh Room where she was praying. All of us where screaming in the house - calling for help. Aunty Getrude came in Aunty Youdeh Room. She climbed on the bed and slide the window to call for help but it took long before one of the securities could get to them,” Alice explained.

She continued, “Aunty Getrude told him to use the cut-less that was in his name to break the window. When he broke the window, Aunty Getrude, Youdeh and myself exited through the window. I saw on the ground crying and screaming for help till community members came. Later, I saw Cllr. Scott coming outside with some community dwellers with Charloe on the back of one of them. Cllr. Scott was in tears and instructed to call Aunty Gbade Pole and Uncle Toh .”

Alice Johnson, Cllr. Gloria Scott, Gertrude Newton, Rebecca Wisner Youdeh were charged and indicted by the Government of Liberia with the crimes : Murder, Criminal Conspiracy and Making False Statement to Law Enforcement Officers as it relates to Charloe Musu who died on February 22, 2023 in the Brewersville.

Currently, those listed above are undergoing trial at the Criminal Court ‘A’ since June 2023.

Defendant Alice furthered that she began to look for a phone to communicate to other family members until a guy who was over their fence landed his phone but had no credit to call, adding that she came back in the house and saw two phones which belonged to her defendant Gertrude and Charloe Musu (deceased).

Defendant Alice mentioned that when Cllr. Scott was leaving the house, she didn’t see her with hand bag so she decided to carry the bag along with some money on the bed. She added that when she came outside under the light, she noticed that her clothes were bloody.

“I lifted up my shirt to see the wound, when I saw the wound while I was showing it to Aunty Gertrude, Pastor Alvin K. Guzzie was standing and he saw the wound. He said that I should get in the car with Aunty Gertrude so he can take me to the hospital that night. While on our way, I decided to call Aunty Gloria to know her where about but the phone rang two to three times then they aborted.”

She mentioned when they arrived at the Faith Clinic where Charlie was rushed, she saw Cllr. Scott on the floor screaming and crying. At that moment, the nurse took me inside and laid me on the stretcher and began to clean the wound. The nurse, who is a member of Pastor Gussie Church, recommended Redemption Hospital for furthered treatment and they left immediately. While at Redemption hospital, she said the nurses treated her and did an X-Ray and she slept over.

Meanwhile, Defendant Alice Johnson described Charloe has a useful and helpful person to all of them. “She was useful to me in such a way that she braided my hair for school and taught me how to go to the bank. We never found that though or mindset to kill Charloe. We did not kill Charloe.”
