Swaray won the competition over group, Genesis comprising three separate artists 25 to 18 votes after a transparent public voting process conducted by Orange- Liberia, the official sponsor of the National League.
Unlike before, the Liberia Football Association now has a new Anthem, which will be used as signature tune and will be played at all of its games including other official functions.
Speaking at the official announcement ceremony on Monday, September 5, 2022, the Marketing Manager of the LFA, Rodney Wilson, said the contest, which started in March of 2022, was among other things geared towards developing an identity and signature tune for the football house as it is done across the globe.
The process, he told reporters, was done in two phases to include the contestants and voting processes for the public respectively.
According to Mr. Wilson, the LFA is very determined to make sure that the public ownership and attachment to the process was essential evidence of the open and transparent voting process which was technically controlled by Orange- Liberia.
Messages, he said, were sent out and placed the two contestants namely: Group Genesis as Anthem one and AB Swaray as Anthem two respectively.
Announcing the official result was Angel Nyanka of Orange- Liberia who commended the two contestants for their participation into the process.
Angel, who hailed the LFA under the able leadership of Mustapha Raji for the level of development in the sector, also pledge Orange Liberia's continued support to football development.
"Today, everyone is a winner but we have to announce just one person who emerged as the overall winner after a successful process and that winner is AB Swaray with 25 votes to 18 votes from Group , Genesis, eight votes margin,’’ she disclosed.
Responding following the announcement of the winner, Artist AB Swaray expressed gratitude to the LFA for emerging as winner of the competition.
"I am happy that the LFA is now taken the game to another level especially with Liberian ownership and the recognition of local artists work, this is commendable,’’ he said.
Winner Wilson also paid tribute to his family especially his wife who motivated him to form a part of competition including his fans who voted him to see him emergedas the winner .
Meanwhile, the happy winner, AB Wilson, according to the LFA, will walk away with an undisclosed prize for his outstanding and exceptional work which saw him emerged as winner of the Liberia Football Association Anthem Competition
