Lofa County Gears Up for 2021/2022 National County Sports Meet

In preparation of the 2021/2022 National County Sports Meet, the Sports Steering Committee of defending champions, Lofa County will host a special 2-day retreat in Gbarnga City, Bong County.

Among other things, the two-day retreat will discuss issues relative to Lofa County galvanizing of support including advancing suggestions and strategies that will make the county retain the football trophy and ensure the kickball team lifts the kickball title as well.

As part of the retreat, which will take place on Friday and Saturday October 22-23, will see the head of the steering committee, Momo Cyrus, present reports of the county’s last participation in the National County Sports Meet to the superintendent and county authorities.

According to the Retreat Committee Chairman, Cllr. George B. Kailondo, delegates at the sitting will hang heads on how Lofa County citizens home and abroad can once again come out and lend their financial and moral support to the Lofa County Teams in the pending National County Sports Meet.

The two-day gathering will bring together all members of the Lofa County Sports Steering Committee, the county superintendent, commissioners, senior and junior county officials, members of the county legislative caucus, prominent sons, daughters and other sports authorities as well as members of the football and kickball teams respectively.

Among others things, Chairman Momo Cyrus will also make a special remark to the delegates on the current state of affairs of the committee, while special recognitions will be given to individuals who contributed to the success of Lofa County in the last edition.

According to him, the retreat is intended to ensure that Lofa County recalibrate in reawakening and maintaining the huge momentum created in the last edition of the National County Sports Meet in which their football team clinched the giant size trophy, first of its kind, in the county’s history.

The retreat, which will be the first of its kind to be organized by any county after the National County Meet, will also highlight areas the county failed to perform during the last County Meet including other challenges as well.

Meanwhile, organizers of the committee have called on all Lofa citizens involved with the retreat to turnout en-mass to begin setting the stage for the county success in the upcoming national county sports meet while the 2-day event will be climaxed with a friendly kickball and football games between Lofa and Bong Counties.

In a related development, the 2021/2022 National County Sports Meet fixture is finally up with host Margibi in Group A with Grand Bassa, River Gee and Montserrado Counties, while Group B will see Nimba, River Cess, Grand Kru and Bong Counties in a group of death battle.

The three-man Group C will be all southeastern affairs when host Grand Gedeh, Sinoe and Maryland Counties come face to face, while Group D will have Bomi, defending champions Lofa, Grand Cape Mount and Gbarpolu Counties to lock horns with each other respectively.
