Chinese Government Extols Clar Hope Foundation, Donates Vehicle, Assorted Items

As part of its effort in helping Liberia overcome the shocks of the deadly coronavirus disease, the Government of the People’s Republic of China (PRC) has continued to beef up the effort of its Liberian counterpart by means of financial humanitarian and technical support through different sectors of the society.

Latest of such is the donation of an-18-seated mini bus and several assorted anti covid-19 and educational materials to the Clar Hope Foundation – the charity foundation of Liberia’s First Lady, Madam Clar Marie Weah.

The Clar Hope Foundation is a non-political initiative aimed at creating an equitable society in Liberia where women and children are healthy, provided education and fully empowered to lead a prosperous life.

The foundation aims to assist disadvantaged children, youth and women. Its objectives focus on delivering essential educational and emergency healthcare as a universal and constitutional health-right to every Liberian citizen. The Clar Hope Foundation came from the merger of sustainable development solutions.

Ceremony marking the donation of the vehicle and assorted items was held Tuesday, 12 October 2021 at the Chinese Embassy near Monrovia.

Speaking at presentation of the donated items, Chinese Ambassador accredited to Liberia, Ren Yisheng, said the donation from comes from the All China’s Women Federation through the China Federation for Persons with Disabilities.

According to him, the gesture is a clear manifestation of the booming brother and sisterly relationship that has long subsisted between the two countries, which the Chinese government is committed to uphold.

“We are good brothers and good friends. We care and supported each other in every endeavour no matter how. We are committed to upholding this friendship,” said the Chinese envoy.

Recounting China’s contributions, especially amid covid-19, Ambassador Yisheng asserted that his country was one of the first countries to reach out to Liberia, thus signifying the love and care it has for Liberia.

He disclosed that the Chinese government is working closely with humanitarian groups to deliver food to 250,000 students and underprivileged persons across four counties in Liberia.

However, on the heel of numerous supports in various sectors of the Liberian society, the Chinese government officials stressed a need for agricultural cooperation between the two countries so as to boost agricultural productivity here.

“We need to develop our agricultural cooperation. Our hearts are closed despite far. We will work to strengthen our cooperation and friendship,” he added.

Receiving the items and the vehicle, Madam Weah lauded the Chinese government and donor partners in China for their continuing assistance to different sectors of the Liberian society.

“Today’s donation from you on behalf of the All China’s Women Federation through the China Federation for Persons with Disabilities speaks volumes of your generosity and wonderful support to the growth and development of various sectors of the Liberian society,” indicated Madam Weah as she extended great depth of gratitude.

With great exaltation of the Chinese government’s partnership with the Clar Weah Foundation, Madam Weah recalled that the Government of China through its embassy in Liberia has always supported in great ways, the work of her Office and the Clar Hope Foundation.

“Our partnership with the Chinese government and its peoples is one that continues to see these kinds of gestures of significance and I want to tell you that such makes me humbly gratified,” she noted.

She, on behalf of President George Manneh Weah; her husband, sounded a message of deep appreciation to his counterpart, President Xi Jinping and the friendly peoples of the People’s Republic of China for always standing with Liberia and its people.

She added that Liberia’s history is replete with China’s developmental footprints which have brought infrastructure, economic and social relief to Liberia and its people.

“President Weah asked me to convey through you, his deepest appreciation to his counterpart, President Xi Jinping and the friendly [People] of the People’s Republic of China for always standing with Liberia and its people.
