Liberia ranked 3rd in global fight against COVID-19 - MICAT Boss discloses Featured

Liberia’s Minister of the Ministry of Information Culture Affairs and Tourism(MICAT), Ledgerhood Julius Rennie, has disclosed that Liberia has been ranked number three in the global fight against COVID-19 in Africa. 

The ranking is contained in a recent update on the virus situation on the continent by the World Health Organization (WHO).

Addressing the MICAT regular press briefing on Thursday, October 20,2022 in Monrovia, Minister Rennie further disclosed that the country was also successful in achieving Herd Immunity by vaccinating over 76 percent of the population.

The MICAT boss hailed the resilience of health workers and the people of Liberia for adhering to the various COVID-19 protocols.
‘‘Despite the devastating impact of the pandemic, Liberians continue to be resilient in the global fight against the virus,” the outspoken Liberia’s Information Minister intoned.

Meanwhile, as per the latest WHO report, over three-million Liberians are currently vaccinated against covid-19.

COVID-19 is caused by a coronavirus called SARS-CoV-2. Older adults and people who have severe underlying medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19 illness.
