NEC-Liberia: Voting in the four By-election counties kicks off under a peaceful atmosphere

The National Elections Commission (NEC) has said voting in the four By-election Counties of Bong, Bomi, Grand Gedeh, and Nimba, kicked off Tuesday , November 16, 2021 under a peaceful atmosphere, with nearly all voting centers opening at 8:00 AM.

The NEC-Liberia said there was no report of any real incident of violence since the opening of polls at 8:00AM in the By-election counties.

However, the NEC-Liberia disclosed that during the early morning hours, there were some misunderstandings at the Faith International Center, with code number 15074 in district #1 in Grand Gedeh County. The situation, the Commission said, was quickly resolved and voting continued in that precinct.

NEC-Liberia mentioned that a total of One Hundred Twenty-two Thousand Five hundred and Eighty-one (122, 581) registered voters were expected to vote in the By-elections in electoral district number 2, Bong county, electoral district number 1, Bomi county, electoral district number 1, Grand Gedeh county, and electoral district number 1, Nimba county.

The Commission, in a statement issued Tuesday, 16 November 2021, encouraged all registered voters in Bong, Bomi, Grand Gedeh, and Nimba counties to vote under this peaceful atmosphere.

Meanwhile, the NEC informed the public that counting of ballots will begin immediately after the close of polls at 6:00PM Tuesday in the four counties.
