LICPA dedicates First National Headquarters after 89 years since its establishment


The Liberia Institute of Certified Public Accountants (LICPA) has dedicated its first national headquarters since its establishment in 1933.

LICPA is one of the accounting bodies recognized in Liberia to represent, promote and regulate the accountancy profession in Liberia.

The group on Tuesday held its dedicatory program of its first newly built secretariat headquarters in Congo town and was named in honor of its president, Victor Tanwone.

The building was dedicated and named by a proxy of the Auditor General of Liberia, P. Garswa Jackson and named in honor of LICPA president, Victor Tanwone.

According to the AG proxy, the naming of the building in honor of its president was done after a vigorous process due to his numerous contributions since taken office in 2018.

He said the dedication of the building in honor of its president Victor Tanwone was done in consultation with the council of LICPA and they all agreed to name the headquarters in honor of its president.

“We are here today to dedicate this building in honor of Mr. Victor Tanwone who happens to be the current president of the association by recognizing his workings towards the transformation and vivid work he has done over the years that have brought value thus far to LICPA,” he said.

For his part, Victor Tanwone, LICPA Boss, lauded members of the group with special recognition of Mr. Cosme Goundete, president of the Pan African Accountants Association (PAFA) and other members of the high table that graced the occasioned.

According to him, when he got at the helm of authority as head of LICPA and observed the organization being faced with a lot of challenges that needed to be fixed, and among them was to ensure the organization secure its own headquarters.

“Today, I’m delighted to live and see fulfillment of one of my dreams come alive through the construction of the first ever headquarters of LICPA and this remain a milestone accomplishment of our institution,” he said.

He expressed gratitude to President Weah through the ministry of Finance for the numerous supports over the years to the association and called on members of LICPA to remain collaborative.

He further said the Liberia Institute of Certified Public Accountants has secured funding to embark on its next project of action to administer its professional accounting examination in Liberia with the help of World Bank to archive this feat.
