WAEC to release results soon, urges the public to be patient Featured

The head of the National Office of the West African Examination Council Liberia Office, Dale Gbotoe, has termed as fake, false and misleading, rumors that WAEC- Liberia Office has released the results for the 2021 exams.

In an interview with our reporter recently, Mr. Gbotoe said despite their current challenges, they are ahead of their other regional colleagues in preparation to have the results released to the public soon, but it has not officially done so as reported on the social media.

“We do not know the source of those behind this but all we can say is that their intend is evil and is meant to bring our office to public ridicule, something we consider unacceptable and frown at it greatly,” Mr. Gbotoe said.

According to him, only Nigeria has so far released results among the five countries and it is only Nigeria who fed over a million plus candidates.

“How will a country like Liberia have a total of over a million candidates according to the fake news when those who sat the exams are little over 42,000, this should have even rung belt in the mind of those spreading the fake news,” he wondered, asserting that they did not even do justice to themselves.

“How can you administer a test for over 42,000 candidates and about 1.2 Million candidates passed,” he queried, while further rubbishing the rumors.

The WAEC boss stressed that their institution  is a professional one void of politics and urged the public not to mix their professional job with politics.

He stated that even  though the fake news situation now puts them in a position where when they shall have released the official results people from either of the political divide will have something else to say, but they are not deterred because they do a professional and perfect job at WAEC.

Mr. Gbotoe pleaded with the public to give them space as a professional body so that they can execute their professional task void of politics and sentiments.

Moreover, he pointed out that they have some challenges and they are also dealing with machines but is very certain that the results will be released soon and at once meaning, 3rd, 6th , 9th and 12th graders respectively.

“Again, let me warn the public to be careful of fake news because, they (WAEC-Liberia) is the only official body responsible to administer national exams and also release official results not any other institution whatsoever, so please take note and be patient as the results will be released soon even before the Christmas Celebrations,” he added.
