As the Media Community in Liberia mourns the Death of Iconic Journalist Philip N. Wesseh, Pres. Weah consoles Bereaved Family and Colleagues Featured

The media landscape of Liberia has been heavily hit by the passing of veteran journalist Attorney Philip N. Wesseh as tributes continue to pour in.

Still struggling to overcome the demise of a man who worked and lived all his life for the unique journalism profession, President George Manneh Weah described as deeply saddening, the death of iconic Liberian journalist Phillip N. Wesseh who passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2022 at the John F. Kennedy Hospital in Sinkor, Monrovia following a protracted period of illness.

Like many others, the Liberian leader extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved family, colleagues and friends of the deceased.

Atty. Philip N. Wesseh (PNW) served as Managing Editor and Publisher of The Inquirer Newspaper for many years prior to his death.

 He was also a lawyer and a strong advocate for media freedom.

The Liberian Leader said that the death of Journalist Wesseh now leaves a deep void in the Liberian media.

He urged the Wesseh’s Family and friends to take solace in the Lord.

‘‘Gina’’, as he was affectionately called, made a tremendous impact into the media sector of Liberia and personally to current journalists who are now making their marks across the nation and globe at large.

As the sober reflection continues in the media community in Liberia, especially for his work and immense contributions, the tears, pains and sorrows will not go away so easily but gradually.

Atty. Wesseh died at a time the Press Union of Liberia is in preparations for its anniversary later this month and its elective congress in November, two major media activities he never missed but will no longer be in attendance.

His death came just few weeks after the passing of long serving Simple English News Presenter and Producer at the State owned, Liberia Broadcasting System, Mulbah Kesselly at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Sinkor, Monrovia after a period of illness.
