In Connection With Charloe Musu’s Murder . Former Chief Justice Scott, 3 Others indicted
The Government of Liberia(GoL), thru the Special Grand Jury for Monsterrado, has indicted former Chief Justice Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott and three others for the crimes of murder, criminal conspiracy and false reports to law enforcement officials.
An indictment is a written document drawn up by government lawyers (i.e., prosecutors) to the effect that they honestly believe there’s available evidence that an individual(s) has committed a crime, and as such, they want to put the accused on trial.
Those indicted are Cllr. Gloria Musu Scott, Alice Johnson, Gertrude Newton and Rebecca Youdeh Wisner.
According to the indictment, on February 22, 2023, defendant Cllr. Scott and others with criminal minds and intent armed with a sharp instruction believed to be knife and pepper spray, maliciously inflicted several bodily injuries on victim Charloe Musu.
During the night hours after the family had eaten and were all in the house guarded by Genesis Security Firm Guards assigned at defendant Cllr. Scott house, the guards heard crying sound coming from inside of Cllr. Scott house. As the sound got louder, Security Anthony Musu and Zion Tarr approached the room window of Cllr. Scott and saw Co-Defendant Gertrude as she slid the bathroom window glass. Right in that moment, Gertrude started screaming for help, saying "that the people on us in the house!."
The indictment revealed that the guards saw Co-Defendant Newton along with the Charloe ( decease) in the bathroom. The rest of the guards went around the house, especially to Co-Defendant Wisner’s Room. It was when Defendant Wisner's instructed Security Guard Tarr to break the window bar to give them access to get outside if he can break in. With his effort he broke the widow bar and gave access to Co- defendant Gertrude, Alice and Rebecca through the window.
It furthered that Security Guard Tarr remained at the window to see the alleged intruder but could not see anyone till community members jumped over and entered the fence.
According to a community member named Amara S. Tarwuleh, he said when he entered Cllr. Scott house through one of the back windows, he saw Charloe lying in the bathroom bleeding of which he decided to help by placing her on his friend OG Prof Back to get medical attention.
The entire house was locked hereby asking defendant Scott for the keys and she gave them to him. Later he returned to search for the intruder alleged by family members but was never found.
The indictment added that on that night when the incident occurred, Security Guards Tarr saw Co-Defendant Newton and Jonson carrying away a black bag containing several items, which is suspected to be the murder weapon or criminal agency. Before carrying the victim to the hospital, they changed and concealed the blouse of Charloe.
They also prohibited Police from entering defendant Gertrude room for several days. When obtained access to the room through the Cllr Scott’s lawyer, blood stains were found in several parts of the room along with a torn bra believed to be Charloe property.
“The autopsy report established that the deceased was violently and stabbed nine (9) times on her chest, right hand, left armpit, and left thigh, and her face was peeled indicating that injuries were inflicted by a sharp objects believed to be a knife which are consistent with defendant Newton statement that she was in possession of a knife and the peeling of the deceased face was associated with the use of a foreign substance believed to be a pepper spray which is consistent with defendant Scott statement that she discharged pepper spray and that injuries sustained by the deceased led to her death,” the indictment stated.
Furthermore, the crime criminal conspiracy was committed by those defendants. When the act was done, Cllr. Scott, who is an experienced lawyer and criminal Justice Practitioner, decided to cover up the truth and involvement by saying an unknown man entered the house and stabbed the deceased to death rather it was those defendants who murdered the Charloe after they were involved in an altercation. The bloodstains and others evidenced from the room seen by Police or investigators when appeared on the crime scene but the blouse that the deceased was wearing when the incident occurred is yet to be found.
The indictment furthered emphasized that after seven days of the incident, the defendants conducted themselves in manners in resisting to cooperate with the Liberia National Police rather spoke to the media about an attack by armed robber.
Mentioning that Cllr. Scott granting interview from media outlets to cover up the crime committed about the attack by an unknown man surreptitiously entering her house and using pepper spray on the alleged intruder.
According to her, she awoke up from a scream and noticed that someone was in the house. When the person attacked her, she took her pepper spray and the person escaped.
Later she found Charloe lying with blood and decided to drag her in her bath room, tore the window screen and began to scream through her bathroom window..
Later, one of the security guards entered the house and she gave him her set of spare keys to open the door to carry Charloe Musu (now deceased) to the hospital.
Moreover, defendant Newton falsely and erroneously told police investigators that the deceased was stabbed in the back by an alleged armed robber but rather she was stabbed and multiple wounds inflicted on the deceased front and at the left arm of the deceased.
