In A Land Dispute Evicted Party craves Justice
Following the demolition of their structures in the Freeport Community on the Bushrod Island near Monrovia, a Muslim cleric, who is a party in a disputed land, has craved upon the court for justice to be properly served.
Minutes after demolition of some structures on the 1.08 lot near the Cow Factory Community, Sheikh Abdullah Isa, who claims legitimate ownership to the land, decried the action of the court, stressing that the action was taken without any prior notice to them, who are party to the case.
By this, he pointed out that the court itself did not exercise any form of due diligence by notifying them ahead of time so that they would in turn show cause of their ownership to the land and why they shouldn’t be removed.
Instead, he indicated that a writ of eviction, that doesn’t bear their names, was presented to them only during the demolition exercise.
Sheikh Isa explained to reporters the land in question was legitimately acquired more than three decades ago from the father of their adversary, Joe Younge Sr.
“This is our piece of land that we have been on for years; more than three decades. We bought this place from one Joe Younge long time ago. But quite recently, we saw his son who requested for our deed and our “pappy” told him that he couldn’t give him the deed and that was the beginning of the conflict between us,” Sheikh Isa furthered.
“After sometimes again he came with a surveyor who requested the deed. This time I presented him the deed because he is a registered surveyor. The surveyor authenticated the deed, and then immediately Joe Young Jr. left. Out of a sudden, today a sheriff from the court came with well-armed police and started bursting into our structures. The court issued us a writ without our names,” he noted.
“We have legitimate documents to this land. We have a valid deed probated. In fact, this is not the only land purchased from his father. We purchased other lands from him in Caldwell and other places. Now my father is sick and is in India seeking medication so the son now wants to take advantage but I have the letter of administration over these properties. All I can say is that justice must properly be served, because this is not a country of man, money and power,” he added.
