Guinean National jailed for Murder
The Monrovia City Court has sent to jail a 25- year- old Guinea national identified as Mohammed Sylla for Murder and Aggravated Assault.
This incident occurred on March 18, 2023 in Paynesville, Red Light. Defendant Mohammed, who is a resident of Soul Clinic Community in Paynesville City, outside Monrovia, was informed of his Miranda Rights and charged with the crime murder and aggravated assault for purposely and knowingly assaulting another person.
According to a Police Charge Sheet, on March 18, 2023, defendant Mohammed bike was impounded by Police assigned at Red Light as per their regulations for the bike not to ply the street till ten O’clock.
On that basis, he (defendant Mohammed) tried to appeal to the arresting officer to release his bike but that didn’t work. When the Police Officer left the area to another assignment, defendant Mohammed started to employ another means for the release of his motorbike when the victims - Prince Jallah, Anthony Dennis and Dempsey S. Doe encountered him and started making mockery out of him.
With in that moment, argument ensued between them. Defendant Mohammed then took a stick, round pole to face fight these victims- Prince , Anthony and Dempsey.
Investigation revealed that one of the three victims listed above got injured as a result victim Prince was rushed to the John F. Kennedy Hospital while undergoing treatment he then expired.
The remaining two victims were treated at the JFK hospital and later discharged.
Police charged sheet furthered that when the defendant was interviewed, he admitted his action in response of mocking him.
Meanwhile, defendant Mohammed was charged with the crime of murder and aggravated adult in violation of chapter 14. Section 14.1 and 14.20.
