Use Your Knowledge to benefit Humanity …Chief Imam tells Prospective Muslim Students of UL

The Chief Imam of Liberia, Ali Krayee, has urged Muslim students leaving the walls of the state-run University of Liberia (UL) in the ensuing 103rd graduating class to use their knowledge in a manner and form that will benefit humanity.

Imam Krayee indicated that as quoted by both the Holy Quran and the Holy Bible, any knowledge that misapplied and misused to do evil or any knowledge without God makes man a clever devil.

The Muslim cleric spoke Friday, May 26, 2023 at the baccalaureate service of the 23rd Graduating Class.

“God give us dominion on this earth; that’s what both the Bible and Quran say and so we must take our space. We are not independent of God and to think so, that's ingratitude. And because of this, those who earn knowledge, they should use it properly. Knowledge must not be misapplied and used to do evil,” said Imam Krayee.

“Knowledge without God makes man a clever devil. So, you must use your knowledge to benefit humanity. Don’t use it to suppress and harm your fellow humans,” he added.

Alexander B. Cummings, political leader of the Alternative National Congress (ANC), who served as keynote speaker at the occasion, in similar tone, urged the prospective graduates to use their education for the common good of society.

The ANC leader noted that the country is in dire need of educated people who will develop and sustain the development.

He pointed out that an ANC government would restore education, promote equality and religious tolerance so that no one is put at the disadvantage of the nation’s cake.

“We need educated people in our country to develop and sustain the development. We want to restore education, promote equality and religious because these are things that no one chooses. And nothing should put you at the disadvantage. We should aspire to a Liberia that will fight crime and guarantee everyone's right. Education will be the foundation of ANC led government,” Mr. Cummings told  the upcoming graduates.

“I want to challenge you not to end with first degree; aspire to learn more. Use your education for the benefit of our country,” Mr. Cummings maintained.

Sheikh Haji Saysay, Chairman of the planning Committee, said the program like in the past, is intended to offer prayers for the upcoming graduates for their success.

“It was based on the success of God, who will also direct our path going forward following the graduation that we are here today so it is good that we thank him. We are here for the blessing of the Almighty Allah because to graduate is one thing and to be successful after graduation is another thing so we are here to ask the Almighty Allah for direction.”

Mohammed Jalloh, President of the graduating Muslim students, stressed the need for a structure at Fendall campus for Muslim for prayer, a project Mr. Cummings contributed US$1,000 to.
