LKF Margibi: Zion Sisters On The Double, Defending Champs Destiny falls

It was yet another captivating weekend at the Margibi Sub-committee of the Liberia Kickball Federation (LKF) with big guns of the game engaging each other in the battles for Supremacy in Bong Mines, Lower Bong County.

Among those games played, Dolo Town based Zion Sisters KC with a back-to-back fixtures, got the best of their host Weah Professionals with a thumping 6-2 victory, thanks to Queen of the Match, Mary Willie, who scored three of the six for her club.

The Margibi County and Zion Sisters starter was at the center stage of the game as she hit four of her five appearances in the diamond.

And with an unconvincing 2-0 win against Vision Sisters on Sunday, the Dolo Town Girls moved to six points from three matches to sit third on the table.

The double victories are a complete revival to Zion’s league season having slumped to a 5-0 humiliating defeat of defending champions Destiny Girls in the opening day fixture. The two wins also put the Zion Girls in pole position of the championship.

With one game fewer than defending champions Destiny Sisters, who have already played four matches, Zion could move on equal point with the reigning champions, depending on the outcome of pending fixtures.

Onto another fixture, Quincy Girls came from 1-0 home down to score a famous 3-1 victory against Weala based Future Girls. However, Quincy failed to maintain in her Sunday’s fixture and went on to squander a comfortable 8-5 lead to host Weah Professionals.

At score 8-5, Quincy succumbed to the noise of the huge home cheering squad and subsequently conceded seven homes in the last inning, thus bowing 12-8 homes on the final sound of the whistle.

Still in Bong Mines, a rejuvenated United Angels, formerly Young Star Sports Club International (YSSCI), left no stone unturned to inflict Destiny Girls with a well-deserved 3-0 defeat.

But Destiny Girls did not go back Kakata City empty in the weekend fixtures as they went to collect all three points following the forfeiture of Furure Girls on Sunday.

As usual, the league will continue this coming weekend with some fascinating matches, but with the venue moving back to Kakata.

In those matches, Weah Professional takes  on Vision Sisters and Quincy are up against Destiny on Saturday, May 20, 2023.  And on Sunday, Destiny host Weah Professionals and Vision engages United Angel.
