Liberian Int’l Football Promoters Keen On Improvement of Game in Native Liberia

Following separate meetings with the President of the Liberia Football Association (LFA), Musapha Raji and Deputy Youth and Sports Minister, G. Andy Quamie, the Chief Executive Officer of Sports World Africa & Europa S.L the  Ibrahim Traore, and General Manager Mr. Abi Haidala are eager for the growth and development of football in their native land.

Speaking to reporters Wednesday, April 19, 2023, Mr. Traore lamented that Liberian football is dying and there is a need for reawakening, and that requires concerted efforts of Liberian football stakeholders.

In a bid to making a change towards the forward match of the game, the Sports World Africa and Europa S.L CEO vowed his organization’s support.

“I decide to come along with my General Manager, who is also a Liberian, for s to discuss what we can do for the country. We have seen that there is no advancement; we are going down every day and this is not good for the country, whose President is the only black African to win the Golden Ball – the World Best,” Mr. Traore stated.

As part of his numerous contributions to the growth of the game here, Mr. Traore through his group wants to bring sponsor that will lift the league at another level.

“I want to bring in international sport scots. The game needs someone like me, who has international contacts. If the league is improved, if the game is lifted, other Liberians out there will be interested to come and play for their country.
I am not here to joke; I am here to help the country – the young people,” he furthered, stressing that it’s a shame to be absent from the continental tournament, the African Cup of Nations for over 20 years.

“We need to work together to get the job done and I am calling on LFA to give me the opportunity. The people who are working in LFA are not opened for the world football, and because of this, there is no one to take the players to another level. There are lots of things around that must be changed in this is country. No Liberian is proud to be like this. We need the world to know,” he indicated.

Mr. Traore maintained that if Liberia football is not sponsored, it will not grow and it’s a shame.

“Liberia has more talents, but the growth is lacking. One thing that is needed is that they have to change the coach. I mean the first thing is to change the coach; he has no experience. With a good coach, you will have good players. I personally know him, but it’s not about personal relationship; it’s about our country.’’

Also speaking, General Manager Abi Haidala, explained that they are here strictly for the development of football at all levels, from youth, third division, second division and up to the international level.

“Our vision is wider because we have seen that there is no protection for our players; no backing for them. There are good players from Liberia, who are not playing in top leagues, because their competition is very low. We want to open competition with national team,” he added.
