In Margibi: Districts 2 and 4 Share Point in Entertaining Draw

The Margibi County annual district league continued at the famous Nancy B. Doe Sports Pitch in Kakata, Margibi County at the weekend with District #2 and 4 settling to an intriguing 1-1 home draw to share the point.
District #4, who lost her first match to District #3 by 3-0 homes, did some build-up to their team by bringing in one of the country’s emerging pitchers in Princess Kortuyah alias “Mbappe,” and few new faces, but that could not safe them the day.
Despite taking the lead in the second inning and hitting third base on three occasions, a brilliant Anna Sando was on top of her game in the pitcher’s desk as she went on to contain all succeeding kickers in the diamond to avoid District 2 from slipping into further danger.
On the flick side of the attack, there was only one good joyous moment for District 2 and that came in the fourth inning when a powerful strike from Lofa County and Zion Sisters’ attacker Konah Siazia, bounced onto the depreciated artificial carpet and travelled all the way across the running line towards first base.
Despite being contested by District 4 as a double hit, Jestina Togbah of Destiny wasted no time in taking the quick run from second base to sail home to equal the score.
The both teams then went on to draw blank in their fifth and final inning, thus settling the entire match 1-1.
With the current score, District 2 stands the better chance of advancing to the next stage of the tournament, while District 4 are more prayerful that District 2 loses by, at least by 4 homes margin.
Still in the kickball category, District 6 threw away all four homes advantage scored in an impressive opening 5-1 home win against District 5, as they lost 4-0 against District 1 on Sunday. This means that the group still remains open for any of the three teams, though District #5 has the slimmest of all advantages of advancement.
In the soccer version, a hat trick from Isco Kamara was enough to give District 2 a well-deserved 3-1 victory over District 4. With District 4 and 3 drawing in the opening fixture, the win qualifies District 2 to the last four of the annual political tournament.
And in the other group, District 6 goes through to the next stage of the competition with a 3-2 win against District 1. The result takes District 6 to four points from two matches.
