‘Help The Orphans’ -Young J.J. Roberts United Students Dubbed: ‘Love World Girls’ Identify With Orphanage Home

Seven female teenage students of the 9th Grade Class, of the Joseph Jenkins Roberts United Methodist School located on 12th Street in Sinkor, on March 15th, during the 214th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Liberia’s first President, Joseph Jenkins Roberts, identified with the Mother Victoria Orphanage Home in New Matadi, Sinkor; by donating several foods, non-food items as well as copybooks and other school materials to the orphans of that institution.

The 9th Grade Students of the J.J. Roberts United Methodist established the charity group, under the banner:  ‘LOVE WORLD GIRLS’ with a desire to support orphanage homes and less privileged kids. 

The young female charity organization of the J.J. Roberts United Methodists School, who also donated several other household items, procured these assorted food and non-food items as a result of saving little pocket-money provided them by their parents for recess over the period. 

The young students who saved their meager resources in order to put smiles on the faces of these less privileged kids are: Miss. Reunell Marshall, Miss. Jocelia Pah, Miss. Victoria Sakilla, Miss. Omou Sow, Miss. Asata Dono, Miss. Lucia Joe and Kazaline Davies.

J.J. Roberts United Methodist School was established in 1962 by the then Methodist Church (now United Methodist Church since 1968) as one of the conduits and thoroughfares for the civilization and Christianization of the sons and daughters of the Republic of Liberia, and those from other parts of the world desirous of drinking the refreshing waters that flow from the fountain of quality knowledge that the school provided, and continues to provide.

Joseph Jenkins Roberts was the first (1848-1856) and seventh (1872-1876) President of Liberia. Roberts was born a free slave in Norfolk, Virginia on March 15, 1809. His father was of Welsh origin, and his mother, Amelia, was described as a mulatto.

The donation ceremony by the young students of the United Methodist School, was also graced by Montserrado County District #9 Representative, Frank Saah Foko, who was invited to the occasion.
