Following Their Participation in 2 Cohort Media Mentorship U.S. Embassy certificates Heritage’s Reporter and Others

The Public Diplomacy Section of the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia has ended its 2 Cohort Media Mentorship and certificated 15 Liberian Journalists who participated in the program.

A reporter of the Authoritative Heritage Newspaper,  Kelvin Gonlah,  was among those certificated for their  excellent participation.

During the six-month  mentorship program, they exchanged knowledge and challenges they are facing in the media landscape in Liberia and their institutions.

Journalist Kelvin of the Heritage Newspaper  described the 2 Cohort Media Mentorship as an eye-opener  and experience for him  and others and vowed to use the skills and knowledge acquired wisely.

"Today, I am so happy to voice out another achievement from the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia. At least I'm challenging the stereotype that says we can not reach our final apogee in life. Few years ago, I wasn't part of such opportunity from the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia, but today, I'm part of this great family," stated Journalist Kelvin.

"I believe that this certificate is a stepping stone for me to achieve bigger ones. Though there are many challenges in the Liberian media, I believe that we can do better to uphold our ethics and restraint ourselves from being biased in our reportage. At least I have made an inevitable history with the U.S. Embassy in Monrovia. A history that will never lost.  I want to also extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the Heritage Communication System Incorporated for allowing me to achieve this certificate from the U.S. Embassy,"  he asserted.

Meanwhile, he also  lauded the U.S. Public Diplomacy Section for the opportunity that was afforded them to  acquire the skills and knowledge gained.

"Last year, 2022, I obtained a certificate from the USAID Media Activity in partnership with Internews and the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) where we were 30 Intern Journalists from both the University of Liberia (UL) and Peter Quaqua  School of Journalist posted at 10 different Media institutions for three months and successfully, we ended the three- month  fellowship. At  the end of the program, we were certificated,’’ he added.
