Cuban Deputy Foreign Minister visits MYS Minister Wilson

The Deputy Foreign Minister of Cuba  Elid E. Rodriquez Perdomo on Monday, March 20, 2023 paid a courtesy visit on Youth and Sports Minister, Dester Zeogar Wilson at his Samuel Kanyan Doe Sports Complex Office in Paynesville City, outside Monrovia. 

In his welcome remarks, Minister Wilson recounted the Cuban Government's continuous support to Liberia. 

According to a MYS statement, Minister Wilson briefed Mr. Perdomo about Liberia's participation in the African Cup of Nations and on the progress, Liberia is making in sports development.

Minister Wilson then appreciated the opportunity to have a bilateral agreement between Cuba and Liberia, to train Liberians in sports medicine.

Also in brief remarks, Mr. Perdomo thanked Minister Wilson for the warm reception. 

He disclosed that his visit was intended to explore collaboration with the Government of Liberia (GoL) through the Ministry of Youth and Sports in sports development, which includes boxing, baseball and to provide training in sports medicine and other areas of youth development. 

According to him, his government’s  support to Liberia is based on the two countries’ love and passions for sports.
