Clergyman decries Scamming Behavior of Some Compatriots

The Bishop of Liberia and West Africa for the United Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic (UCJC) USA says the scams of some Liberians displayed in the U.S. have deprived traveling opportunity to go the States.

Making a special remark at the 34th graduation exercise of the Bishop Leslie Josiah Barnes Mission in Monrovia, Bishop Samuel Fornatee Nugba, stressed that many Liberians have been very insincere to themselves and their country.

According to him, some of them had gone to the U. S. through an illegal way to seek greener pasture but often suffer deportation by the American Government after finding out.

He added that other category of those individuals usually escapes from returning home whenever they were taken on a trip for either a program or a visit, causing sincere citizens to be deprived from such an opportunity.

The renowned Liberian cleric admonished the citizens, students and parents to pay no attention to those he termed as scammers who pretend to be giving traveling opportunities to others.

Bishop Nugba, who is also the Board Chair for the Bishop Leslie Josiah Barnes Mission, further urged Liberians to go to the United States legally with technical skills.

According to him, the American system does not care about the high or low academic credentials of anyone, adding those who often reach their success goals without delay, are the ones who already obtained some technical knowledge before traveling.

"Don't fool yourself with your BSC, Master's and PhD you got from Liberia here and think when you travel to the States, you are going to be given first preference. You need to acquire some skills that will help you when you get there," he added.
