China ends Three-Week Media Training

The People’s Republic of China, through its embassy in Monrovia with support from the Ministry of Commerce in China,  has climaxed a three- week  Seminar for Liberian Media and Senior Scholars in Beijing, China.

The training, which began on August 15, 2023,  brought together Media Executives, Reporters and Senior Scholars from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The training covered historic tourism sites and serious of topics including Media Literacy in the Information Age, Media Literacy and E-Governance in the Information Age, New Literacy in Internet Era and Combat Fake News, Constructive Journalism for Development Communication, Broadcasting in the Era of 5G, amongst others.

The knowledge gained from the lectures during the seminar will help inspire and empower the next generation of the Liberian media to a change makers. 

Making remarks at the closing ceremony, the Vice President of the Research and Training Institute of the National Radio and Television Administration, Liu Linhai, urged participants to work in the interest of both countries with their reportage. 

He said, as this batch of professionals has executed their task well, this will pave the way for future programs for other Liberians, noting that all participants took the seminar serious through their experience sharing and short videos presentations.

Liu Linhai said, back in 2015, President Xi met with former President Sirleaf and stressed that China highly value the bilateral relationship with Liberia in ensuring every civil society sector remains conscioustized.

“During this short journey, you have seen China with your own eyes, please recall what you have seen and experience with your pen keyboard and voice. Show them especially on your social media platforms as well as other platforms.”

“We wish that more Liberians can have the opportunity to see China either by themselves or through your perspective as members of the media. We hope that we can continue our interactions and find more opportunities to collaborate in the future. Your comments and suggestions are also heard deeply by us and we will work in the future to also make sure that these seminars are better”

“I am moved that China is no longer an abstract concept in your mind but something more concrete and something more that can serve as a foundation of something greater.  hope that we can all keep this journey in our hearts as we move forward and I hope that this journey will continue our friendship can continue in our hearts as we go back to our professional’s development, we wish you will serve as an ambassador between our two great nations, become the bridge that serves for our cultural, so that more Liberians can get to know  the real China.”

“I believe that this is a Snapchat for Liberia and China relationship. I hope that through this seminar and through the connections we forged, we can serve as bridges that connects Liberia and China. Connects to its track experiences, I believe that we are heading for a better tomorrow for our two countries. Those with common wells are close neighbors no matter the ocean that separates them apart.’’

Meanwhile, on behalf of the delegates in China, the head Michael Tarpeh Young,  Special Aid to the Deputy Minister of Liberia Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed gratitude to the People’s Republic of China and committed Liberia bilateral relationship with  the People of China.

He encouraged his colleagues to report distinctly in the interest of both countries and pledged the group commitment to work with the research and training of NRTA.
