Liberia Albino Society Benefits From GoL Stimulus Package

Monrovai, Liberia - In continuation of the Government of Liberia (GoL) stimulus package initiative, the Liberia Albinism Society(LAS) is now the latest beneficiary from the government’s ongoing food distribution process .

The process, which slowdown recently, kicked off again at the weekend with one of the vulnerable groups in society as per its national plan, persons living with Albinism receiving their share of the cake.

The gesture, which put smiles on the faces of the Albinism Community in Liberia, was described as a timely and meaningful intervention by the executive director, Madam  Patricia N.C. Logan.

According to her, the gesture by the GoL brought about some level of relief to her institution and her members in general, especially at such challenging health crisis.

“ The donation will go a long way for us and we are grateful for the initiative,”Madam Logan emphasized.

She used the occasion to also remind the government about the slice of the LAS budget, which, according to her, has to certain extend prevented it from implementing other meaningful projects across the country.

Beaming with smiles as a sound of great appreciation to the government for the donation of food items to them, Madam Logan, however, encouraged national government to see the need to increase its budget in order to ensure that she effectively executes all of its projects across the length and breadth of the country, which will eventually buttress government’s efforts and make significant impact in the Albinism community in Liberia and beyond.

The gesture by the government is one of the many key interventions to the Liberia Albino Society, something the LAS boss stressed, must not go unnoticed.

She recounted the government fulfilled presentation of $US 28,000 to LAS for the purchase of a land for the construction of its landmark headquarters project in Logan Town, District 15 Montserrado County, as plans are said to be in the making for the ground breaking and commencement of the project soon.

At the same time, Madam Logan promised the government as always that the food items donated to them will directly benefit all members of the Liberia Albino Society.

Meanwhile, the food items donated included 330 bags of 25kg rice, 33 bags of beans and 165 gallons of Igo Oil.
