It could be recalled that the convoy of the House Speaker was involved in an accident on Wednesday, June 10, 2020, while on his way for official legislative duty at the Capitol Building-the seat of the National Legislature.
Information gathered by this paper divulged that the Speaker had taken the opposite lane while rushing to work.The accident, which occurred before the resident of Liberia’s former President, Charles G. Taylor, drew the attention of several onlookers with many expressing sorrow over the incident.
Speaking Thursday, June 11, 2020 in an interview with this writer, the Spokesman of the LNP, Mr. H. Moses Carter, said persons sustained major and minor injuries during the accident that occurred Wednesday morning, June 10, 2020.
According to Carter, two cases of the four persons that sustained injuries from the vehicle that collided with the Speaker’s convoy are critically injured, while two of the conditions are minor.
Carter indicated that two persons from the Speaker’s convoy also have some minor scratches.“We have like two persons on critical condition; a male that was [driving] the other vehicle and one of the pedestrians that was involved in the accident,” he pointed out.
The LNP spokesman disclosed that the LNP will launch a speedy investigation into the matter following the total recoveries of the victims.“We are going to launch an investigation into the matter. As you are aware, we can’t have an investigation while those people are lying on their hospital beds. We hope that this will happen soon as it is done in any accident case,” added Carter.
