The two referees include Curtis Johnson and Varney Kawah, who were given assignment in Group A of the County Meet, played at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia. The group brings together Montserrado, Lofa, River and Maryland Counties. Decision to have the two match officials recalled from duty was taken by the kickball governing body on Tuesday, January 12, 2021 following investigation of misconduct filed them. “The Liberia Kickball Federation (LKF) has with immediate effect recalled Referees Curtis Johnson and varney Kawah from the National County Sports Meet 2021 for Misconduct,” said the LKF in a brief statement.
“Meanwhile, they have been replaced with Samuel Dazie and Mark Moore in Zone-A (Montserrado/ATS),” the LKF added. Though the LKF did not provide further detail of the act of misconduct allegedly orchestrated by the match officials, this paper has gathered that the two referees abandoned major duty on the opening day of the annual sports festival on Saturday. Referees Johnson and Kawah reportedly abandoned their officiating duties in the match involving Montserrado and Maryland Counties to partake in wedding program. Accordingly, the pair has been asked by the sports regulator to turn over all funds and materials received from the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MYS) through the LKF for the purpose of officiating.
