Liberia Albinism Society Identifies With Members In Grand Bassa County

Smiles and jubilation were the order of the day on Monday June 29, 2020 when members of the Liberia Alibinism Society residing in Buchanan City and surrounding Communities in Grand Bassa County walked away with food and non- food items from their mother organization (LAS)

The gesture during this COVID-19 crisis was made possible by one of its international members, a musician and man of God Pastor Moses Swaray.In a voice conversation with his people during the distribution process, Swaray urged his kinsmen to remain Save and follow all of the prevention measures in order to avoid the further spread of the virus. “No person living with Albinism has died so far and this is a good news though we are not happy for non- albino people to die but I want you all to remain vigilant and ensure you help the government battle the exit of the pandemic,” Swaray added.He assured his colleagues that he will work hard and lobby with other partners and friends in the diaspora in order to put the plight of persons living with albinism on the front page for the betterment of all.

The one time “ Winner of the Star is born competition in Liberia using his golden voice as an appealing tune to his people encourage them not to give up despite their skin color or discrimination against them but to ensure that they keep on trying as one day their time will definitely come.“ Be focused, never give up, remain resilient and press forward towards your goal and eventually your dream will become a reality,” he, among other things, added.Presenting the items to her members in a jubilant faction, the Executive Director of the Liberia Albinism Society, Madam Patricia N.C. Logan, warned her members not to doubt the reality of COVID-19 because it is here and taking away lives globally.

She urged her members not to join others in saying that the government is using the crisis as a means of making more money.“ Wear your nose masks properly and regularly, wash your hands with soap and water frequently and stay away from social distancing at all times,” she further urged them.The donation since the crisis is the first of its kind outside of Montserrado County by the Liberia Albinism Society as she promised them that they will do more for their members across the Country during the crisis period. Meanwhile, some of the items donated included over 50 bags of 25 khaki Rice, cartoons of washing and bathing soap, and many others- all worth over US$1500.
