As First Lady Unveils Empowerment Plans Renewed Hope For Liberian Women

MONROVIA, LIBERIA -Renewed hope is now returning to women of Liberia and this is because of the intervention of Liberia’s First Lady Mrs. Clar Marie Weah.

Responding to their appeal and request for loan empowerment, Mrs. Weah without hesitation as part of her usual gesture assured the hard working business women of Nimba and Liberia in general that she will help empower them. “Under my She’s you project, I will provide you people micro loan,” Madam Weah re-echoed to the happy market women who were full of praise by the First Lady’s pronouncement to them. According to the women of Nimba County, theyare strong and are prepared to assist their husbands but lack of empowerment is their challenge, especially in the wake of the COVID-19 global pandemic.

The Liberian first lady acknowledged the women’s concern and stressed that she will do all she can to get them back on their feet in order for them to contribute to the society. Showering Madam Weah with gifts as part of her initial assistance to them in the past, the nation’s First Lady thanked the women for their appreciation to she and her husband and at the same time assured them that she will work to put smiles on their faces for the betterment of the society. The happy beneficiaries who also praised President Weah for the rehabilitation of their market which they are now using also reassured the First Lady and President Weah that with the availability of the loans to them, they will help maximize such opportunity by engaging into businesses including the agriculture sector in order to help develop the country as well as the empowerment of their colleagues.

The pronouncement of Women loan and empowerment by the First Lady is not the first of its kind. It can be recalledt hat as part of the Citizens Engagement County Tour, Mrs. Weah also promised the women of Bong County that she has listened to their plight of loan and women empowerment and will intervene soon through her She’s You Program which is expected to be launched in the middle of 2021.
