Todee Residents Benefit From President Weah’s Gesture

As the country grapples with terrifying effects of the coronavirus disease or covid-19, there have been joint efforts by government and private sector groupings as well as individuals within both sectors.

President George Manneh Weah is one of those many people in the middle reaching out to Liberians, with his latest supply affecting the District of Todee in rural Montserrado County.

In the execution of the President’s initiative, a joint force of the Liberia Crusaders for Peace (LCP), a social cultural organization, and the Monrovia City Corporation (MCC)on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 took the outreach and sensitization mission to Todee District, rural Montserrado County.

During the mission, the joint collaboration distributed several bags of rice and anti covid-19 materials to various towns and villages in the district.

The mission also provided basic preventive messages of the disease to residents of the district.

Speaking during the presentations, the Executive Director of LCP, Madam Juli Endee, called on citizens of the district to help keep Liberia saved by adhering to the key information.

"You must continue to wash your hands with clean water at all times and you must observe all the health protocols laid down by health authorities,” she ordered.

According to the LCP boss, the consignment is part of the 1,000 bags of rice provided through the initiative of President Weah for the people of Montserrado County.

"This is part of the 1,000 bags of rice provided by our President and so we have come here to identify with you during these testing times, while at the same time telling you the right things to do to remain safe," she added.

Mr. Jefferson Tamba Koijee, Mayor of the MCC, urged the residents to make proper use of the donation, especially the covid-19 materials, and follow the health tips being provided.

He pointed out that the main reason for reaching out to the district was to decentralize the President’s gesture and the preventive messages.

"As the Ambassador earlier told you, please observe all the safety rules. We love you as our citizens and this is why we decided to reach out to you," he stated.

"We are here because everything cannot just be in [urban] Montserrado alone, because you, too, are important to our development drive. We love you and care for you. This is a clear indication that the government loves you," Koijee added.

Speaking on behalf of the residents, the Superintendent of the district, Mr. John Tucker, lauded LCP and MCC for the initiative.

He then called on residents to wisely use the donated items for the intended purpose, while at the same time, to strictly abide by the preventive measures.
"We will give you the supports that are needed to fight this disease. Let me assure that you are not alone in this fight; we are with you to the end," Tucker asserted.

Several Town chiefs and prominent members of the district also thanked the group for the initiative.
