China Makes Another Huge Donation of COVID-19 Materials to Liberia

The Government of the People’s Republic of China has donated another huge consignment of Coronavirus (COVID-19) related materials to the Government and People of Liberia. The donation of the latest materials, which worth thousands of United States Dollars was done Friday, June 12, 2020 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Monrovia.

Ceremony marking the donation of the items was attended by top officials of the Chinese and Liberian governments. Speaking during the presentation of the items, Chinese Ambassador accredited to Liberia, Fu Jujun, said the donation is in continuation of China’s numerous supports to Liberia.

According to him, the gesture is in line with the existing bilateral ties between the two countries (China and Liberia). Bilateral ties between Liberia and China have been fruitful owing to the fact that promises between the two countries have been kept.

“The donated items are part of China’s support towards the fight against the coronavirus. China and Liberia are very good friends,” said the Chinese diplomat. Even thoughthe global pandemic, which emanated from Wahun in the Hubei Province in China, the Chinese government has able to contain the virus from ravaging.

As part of the many supports to Liberia, Amb. Jijun recalled that Chinese companies have in time past donated series of donations to the Liberian government. The donated items included Covid-19 nucleic Acid diagnostic kit, medical protective face marks, surgical coverall, medical goggle, disposal nitrile and among others items.

Receiving the items on behalf of Liberia, Foreign Minister Gbehzohngar Findely, lauded the People and Government of China for their landmark donation as Liberia grapples with the virus. He said Liberia has gained more from China and assured the Chinese Government that the items will be used for their intended purpose.
