Liberia Starts Massive Preparation For Typhoid Vaccine

Liberia has begun massively preparing to launch the typhoid conjugate Vaccine come early next year.

A training session styled as the micro planning kicked in Grand Bassa County and organized by the Expanded Program on Immunization.

A Health Ministry statement signed by its Communication Consultant, Mr. Sorbor George, said the  ongoing training brings together Child Survivors and Data Officers.

According to Mr. George, the training is treating topics including Data Analysis, Problems identifications priority and Vaccine Forecast among others.

A study conducted by the Global Burden of Disease estimates that  Liberia recorded over 7 thousand typhoid cases in 2017.

In a brief remarks, UNICEF reassured its support to Liberia’s effort to help improve Liberia’s immunization coverage. 

The country’s effort to introduce the Typhoid Vaccine  Micro Planning is being supported by Typhoid Vaccine Acceleration Consortium, PATH, a US based  institution
If introduced, Liberia will be the first country in West Africa to launch the Typhoid Vaccine nationwide.

The Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine if introduce will bring to 15 the number of vaccines introduced so far by the Expanded Program on Immunization within the Ministry of Health. .

Meanwhile, the training program ended Thursday, December 5, 2019.
