No Promotion For Students After COVID-19 - Education Minister Warns Featured

Education Minister , Prof. D. AnsuSonii, has warned that there will be no promotion for students after the Covid-19. His statement comes in the wake of recent observation by some schools who are giving assignments to their students  and take home tests as a way to prepare for subsequent promotion, something the Education boss noted, will not be allowed after the climax of COVID-19 in Liberia.

"Schools that are giving assignments to their students on the basis of promotion are doing it at their own risk," Minister Sonii emphasized.

According to him, through further justification for the Ministry's decision, the academic calendar of 2019-2020 school year has already been disrupted by the deadly pandemic, therefore, take home assignments are not quite enough to cover the curriculum for 2019-2020 school year.

He warned schools administrators attempting to promote students on the basis of what he branded as mere assignments to desist with immediate effect, further warning that they will take drastic action against violators.

At the same time, he called on all schools, public, private, faith-based and community, shall remain closed until the health authorities deem it safe to reopen and begin physical or on campus activities.

Sonii encouraged all school administrators to remain calm amidst the deadly pandemic and observe all health measures, stressing that students should remain focused and make use of every learning opportunity while awaiting the total end of the virus.
