To Participate in Grand Final of Quranic Memorization, Recitation Competition 2020: 2 Winners in Liberia Head For Gabon

The Mohammed VI Foundation of African Islamic Scholars in Liberia on Saturday, January 18, 2020 hosted the Second Annual Quranic Memorization and Recitation Competition in two categories, which include :Memorization of the whole Ouran and memorization Of selected parts of choosing by a reciter with strict observance of Tajweed rules.

The first category, memorization of the whole Ouran was won by Abubakar H. Sow ,while the second category, memorization of selected parts, was won by a 14- year-old boy, Abrahim Sorry Barry.

The two will be given an opportunity to participate in a grand final organized by the mother Foundation of Morocco scheduled to take place  in Libreville, Gabon ,March 25th-April 1st, 2020.

In his remarks, the Minister of Internal Affairs, Honorable Varney Sirleaf, expressed happiness to participate in what he described as"blessed occasion " to glorify the Name of the Almighty God. He extended profound gratitude and appreciation, through the leadership of the Foundation in Liberia, to His Majesty King Mohammed VI for his many contributions to the development , stability and consolidation of peace of Africa and the world 

Minister Sirleaf also emphasized saying :"We hope that this is just the beginning of many things we want to see happening in our communities "

He indicated that the Quranic Competition is a very positive development and should be supported by all Muslims and that those who memorized the Holy Quran should be dear to our hearts because they will help to propagate Islam by teaching others.

He called on the local leadership of the Foundation to promote national unity and reconciliation in the country. The minister also donated 200 USD to be awarded as prizes to the two winners.

Meanwhile, 18 contestants participated in the competition, seven in category one and 11 on category two.
