Opposition Politician Voices Out  -Demands Explanation From Gov’t Featured

A Liberian oppositionpolitician, Madam MacDella Cooper, has asserted  that Liberians are yet to feel the impact of all the committees setup by the Government of Liberia(GoL) in the fight against the coronavirus(COVID-19) pandemic in the country.

"We hear about the COVID-19 Presidential Committee, the Senate Committee on Covid-19, taskforce and what have you, yes the committees are getting pay and getting their resources, but what are their contributions to the  ordinary Liberians, amid all the resources they are getting,?” questioned opposition politician Madam Cooper.

The Political Leader of the Movement for One Liberia, said  she expects to see what she calls tangible economic results like the distribution of the stimulus package to all Liberians without delay and discrimination.

She made these assertions over the weekend when she spoke via mobile   on  the Truth Breakfast Show.

“The more delays with economic progress, the more serious hardships the citizens are going to face after COVID-19.No concrete information of what they are doing.I actually don't see tangible plan of how we are going to get through this," she  intimated.  “We have heard about all the special interest people who are leading the committees, but what are they doing. The majority are not feeling their impact in these critical times. What are their plans, we don’t know," Madam Cooper  averred.

The Liberian female  oppositionpolitician then  called on the GoLunder the administration of President George Manneh Weah to provide clear communication to its citizens amid crisis.

"We expect to hear clear communication so that we can be able to pass it down to our people who are counting on us. The beginning of this whole lockdown was chaotic due to the lack of proper communication. This government needs to work on its communication strategy," she pointed out.

Amongst other things, Madam Cooper disclosed that her party will feature a candidate for the upcoming special senatorial election slated for the latter part of this year.
