According to her, authority is next to God, and as such, Liberians should develop the sense of showing love by respecting traditional leaders and people in authority.
She made the call on Tuesday, July 16, 2019 at the Golden Image Award 2019 Women’s Forum held on the grounds of the Liberia Crusaders for Peace office in Monrovia.
The forum, under the theme: “Stop Violence Against Women”, brought together several prominent women of Liberia, including Bong County District # 6 Representative Moima Briggs, amongst others.
During the forum, discussions were held on the role women play in peace building, health , democracy, rule of law, politics and culture. Several women, who are at higher levels in the society, also shared their experiences they have had in promoting women at the political and other key levels.
“ I learned to respect people from my upbringing, my traditional background. If you learn to respect people, you will have grace . When you respect authority, then you have grace. But if you are disrespectful to authority, God takes that grace from you and say, I will overturn, and over turn. We talk negative about our tradition, but we do not talk the positive about our tradition. Let me just give this information to you, the traditional leaders that you see wearing gowns, are the custodians of our culture.
They are the custodians of our values. Those traditional people you see are there for our development, for peace and unity. In the traditional village, you don’t have police officers; it is the traditional people that make peace. They do not have conflict in religion. So we must respect our culture,” Amb. Endee cautioned.
Speaking on this year’s Golden Image Award(GIA), which is expected to take place at the Monrovia City Hall on Thursday, July 18 , 2019, the head of the LCP explained that this year’s golden image award will take different dimension , awarding only women in recognition of their enormous contributions and talents as well as flagging the women of Liberia in the society.
