Gone Are The Days When…

We are cautiously urging the Government of Liberia(GoL) through the Liberia National Police (LNP) and the Ministry of Justice(MoJ) to leave no stone unturned in bringing to justice all those responsible for the cold bloody killing of one Abraham Temeh in the aftermath of a clash that took place in Kingsville, Number 7, Margibi County between some residents and members of the LNP.

It can be recalled that on Monday, June 24, 2019 aggrieved residents of Kingsville took to the street and blocked the Monrovia -Kakata Highway in demand of Justice over the ‘mysterious’ deaths of two kids who went missing between May 30 and the 31 only to find their “decomposed” bodies on June 3, with several parts extracted.

It was gathered that the agitating residents became more furious when a 15-man community panel jury that was set up, established that there was a foul play in the deaths of the two children.

There have been widespread condemnations of the cruel killing of Abraham Temeh , with many demanding speedy justice and at the same time expressing sympathy to the family of the deceased.

This is why the GoL must ensure that justice is served without delay and favor so as to deter such despotic and wicked act.

Let it be made clear that gone are the days when heartless and harsh security forces kill defenseless citizens and walk with impunity.

We will not rest until justice prevails as we will continue to hold the government’s feet to the fire on this matter.

We believe the government is under moral and constitutional obligation to uphold every tenet of democracy, including protecting the rights of its people exercising their constitutional rights.

And therefore, the security forces, mainly officers of LNP officers must always ensure that they protect the rights of all citizens without boundary, including those exercising their constitutional rights and not to turn their weapons on the them and in the process a defenseless citizen is killed in cold blood.

It is very important that officers of the LNP, who are responsible to protect lives and properties, at all times exercise high degree of professionalism in the execution of their assigned task.

To this end, we again urge the GoL to ensure that justice prevails without delay and favor.
