Hats Off to The People’s Republic of China

We wholeheartedly commend the People’s Republic of China(PRC) in recognition of its numerous contributions towards Liberia’s growth and development, including media development.

We are exceedingly grateful of the numerous development programs by the PRC, which sincerely cut across all sectors. Against this backdrop, the importance of the One-China Policy, which we believe, is key towards the development of Liberia and Africa at large, cannot be overemphasized. However, we encourage the PRC to do more in helping Liberia and the media for their enhancement. It must be acknowledged that, while China itself has a big task of lifting hundreds of millions of its people out of poverty, it has been trying to do its best in helping Liberia to achieve its developmental goals.

The dedications of the new terminal at the Roberts International Airport (RIA), the Ministerial Complex as a gift to the people of Liberia and the construction of the Headquarters and Broadcasting facilities of the state-owned Liberia Broadcasting System or LBS as some of China’s numerous contributions to Liberia’s development including in the media over the years. Besides big projects, we must mention that there are several China-Aided technical cooperative projects going on in Liberia: One is the Bamboo and Rattan Weaving and Vegetable Plantation Training Center. The Center’s main function, we understand, is to train local youth with weaving arts, agriculture plantation and livestock raising skills. A similar project is the Agricultural Technology Demonstration Center in Bong County. Both of them have trained several Liberian youth. Some graduates, we also understand, have started their own bamboo and rattan weaving workshops, set up their rice, vegetable plantations and pig farms and some of them have found valuable job as a breadwinners. To this end, we again commend the PRC for its numerous contributions towards Liberia’s growth and development. Keep up the good works.
