As U.S. Embassy Issues Civil Disturbance Alert In Monrovia

The United States Embassy in Monrovia, Liberia says it is aware of reports that the Tubman Blvd was on Thursday, October 3, 2019 blocked in both directions in Congo Town, Monrovia due to a civil disturbance.

According to a U.S. Embassy Civil Disturbance Alert issued in Monrovia yesterday, there was traffic congestion and a heavy police presence in the area.

“All U.S. citizens are advised to avoid civil disturbances and to monitor local media to remain informed of developments as they occur,” the U.S. Embassy stated.

Meanwhile, the U.S. Embassy added that it will issue additional alerts if there are changes to the list of recommended actions below.
Actions to Take:
• Avoid the areas of the civil disturbance.
• Exercise caution if unexpectedly in the vicinity of large gatherings or protests.
• Monitor local media for updates.
• Keep a low profile.
