Pres. Boakai promises Citizens of Vahun Good Road, Pipe-Borne Water and Vocational School

Citizens of Vahun District in Lofa County have honored their big uncle, President Joseph Nuyama Boakai at his Rehab Residence in Paynesville, outside Monrovia  for his contributions to the people of  Guma. 

The citizens comprised of chiefs and women groups from the district  who attended the occasion. 

Presenting a gift on behalf of the people of Vahun Guma Mende District, the former Commissioner of the district, Michael J. Siafa, outlined the numerous problems Vahun has been faced for the past six years since former President George Manneh Weah came to power.

"We are completely cut off from Liberia. All of our farms products are taken to Sierra Leone due to the bad road conditions in the district."

The Citizens of Vahun also thanked President Boakai for appointing three of their children in persons of Francis Egu Lansana as County’s Development Officer of Lofa County, Stanley N. Brima as Assistant Minister for Communal Farming at the Ministry of internal Affairs and Sediki Dukuly, Commissioner of Vahun Administrative District, Lofa County among others.

They also asked President Boakai to lobby with Orange GSM for the extension of mobile network to Vahun to ease the communication problems in the district as Lonestar  is always off for months.

Speaking on behalf of the women of Vahun District, Maju Dunor asked President Boakai for women's empowerment. 

"We only live on farming. Please help us to be able to help our children to go to school."

For his part, President Boakai informed the citizens that he has already communicated with the acting Minister of National Defense for Army Battalions to do an assessment of the Vahun road to report to his office for action on the rehabilitation of the road from Bolahun Junction to Vahun. 

 "I told you people that l am committed to give good road and pipe- borne water for Vahun during my administration and l will  fulfill this promise to you. Vahun road will be fixed and even taxi will reach Vahun. The vocational school will also be part of my initiative,’’ the President added.
