NCSM: River Gee maintains Supremacy Over Bong in Football, R/Cess and Nimba sail to Kickball Semis

With four matches now played between Bong County and her southeastern counterpart, River Gee in the National County Sports Meet (NSCM), the Southeasterners have triumphed in all.

Saturday’s victory of River Gee over Bong was the latest show of supremacy by the second youngest county in Liberia. The River Geeians left it late – two minutes to time to book their space to the semifinals.

The dominant River Gee side scored just within three minutes, but bowed to a second half equalizer 12 minutes to time, before restoring the lead and sealing the victory in the 88th minutes as all eyes were set for an extra time of play.

What stood out to be the fight of the titans between Nimba and rival Grand Gedeh was unable to end due to poor visibility. With full 90 minutes played at 2-2, the extra 30 minutes is being postponed to today, Monday, April 29, 2024 at 4pm at the SKD.

In kickball, River Cess and Nimba proved authorities over their respective opponents River Gee and Grand Gedeh Counties.

The Cestos City girls dominated the match to maintain clean sheet in what stands out to be a 6-0 battering of River Gee.

Though well-determined to cause an outset on one of the tournament’s favorites in kickball category, an early blunder by Midfielder Susan Padmore gifted River Cess an early 2-0 lead, thus breaking the entire River Gee team down towards a non-competitive 6-0 defeat.

In the day’s other kickball encounter, Nimba thrashed neighbor Grand Gedeh 7-1 homes to move into the last four of the competition.

Despite the defeat, Grand Gedeh pitcher Anna Sannoe was the star of the pitcher’s desk with a whooping six cuts in the diamond as against Nimba County Ma Bea Smith’s one.
